Julia Thornton Snider joined the Forecast in 2010 upon completing her Ph.D.
in economics at the University of Minnesota. She contributes to the economic
modeling and forecasting of the California and local economies. Her recent
academic research has focused on the effects of government regulations on the
market for prescription drugs and on firms’ motivations for outsourcing.
Prior to joining the Forecast, Dr. Snider worked as a Research Analyst at the
Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis. In this position, she contributed to
various policy-related analyses conducted in the Minneapolis Fed’s Research
Department. She received her bachelor’s degree from Stanford University, where
she majored in economics and minored in mathematics.
